Just read this as I awoke, and found it particularly resonant; I think it’s a strong hypothesis - I see it in myself and my friends, all of us minimising our presence for survival.
That community entanglement feels so alien and unattainable, almost threatening; I feel as if we’re all now so wary of one another and unwilling to be too entwined with our neighbours (at least in England).
So often initiatives are started in my community with real passion, but they lose steam as not enough people are involved, even casually; it’s just work/sleep/survive - and I think we don’t give ourselves enough grace to be able to say “OK we tried, so let’s not to blame ourselves; let’s try again!”
This is strikingly resonant, what a terrifying realisation. I'm grateful and horrified. Thank you 🥲
Just watched this on tiktok too. Really loved this one.
Damn. This is good!
This was a breakdown unlike any other
Brilliant stuff here.
Beautifully written! I never heard of this until now and I will most definitely be thinking about this for awhile.
